Um dos seus principais oficiais, Peca, filho de Remalias, conspirou contra ele. Levando consigo cinquenta homens de Gileade, assassinou Pecaías e também Argobe e Arié, na cidadela do palácio real em Samaria. Assim Peca matou Pecaías e foi o seu sucessor.
