Naquela ocasião Josué pronunciou este juramento solene: “Maldito seja diante do SENHOR o homem que reconstruir a cidade de Jericó:“Ao preço de seu filho mais velholançará os alicerces da cidade;ao preço de seu filho mais novoporá suas portas!”

Também nesse tempo Josué os esconjurou, dizendo: Maldito diante do Senhor seja o homem que se levantar e reedificar esta cidade de Jericó; com a perda do seu primogênito a fundará, e com a perda do seu filho mais novo lhe colocará as portas.

Joshua laid an oath on them at that time, saying, "Cursed before the LORD be the man who rises up and rebuilds this city, Jericho. "At the cost of his firstborn shall he lay its foundation, and at the cost of his youngest son shall he set up its gates."
