Spiritual Blessings in Christ

3 ¹Blessed be ²the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing ³in the heavenly places,

4 ⁴even as he ⁵chose us in him ⁶before the foundation of the world, that we should be ⁷holy and blameless before him. In love

5 ⁸he predestined us^a for ⁹adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, ¹⁰according to the purpose of his will,

6 ¹¹to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in ¹²the Beloved.

7 ¹³In him we have ¹⁴redemption ¹⁵through his blood, ¹⁶the forgiveness of our trespasses, ¹⁷according to the riches of his grace,

8 which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight

9 ¹⁸making known^b to us the mystery of his will, ¹⁹according to his purpose, which he ²⁰set forth in Christ

10 as a plan for ²¹the fullness of time, ²²to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

11 In him we have obtained ²³an inheritance, ²⁴having been predestined ²⁵according to the purpose of him who works all things according to ²⁶the counsel of his will,

12 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be ²⁷to the praise of his glory.

13 In him you also, when you heard ²⁸the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, ²⁹were sealed with the ³⁰promised Holy Spirit,

14 who is ³¹the guarantee^c of our ³²inheritance until ³³we acquire ³⁴possession of it,^d³⁵to the praise of his glory.
