The New Heaven and the New Earth

1 Then I saw ¹a new heaven and a new earth, for ²the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.

2 And I saw ³the holy city, ⁴new Jerusalem, ⁵coming down out of heaven from God, ⁶prepared ⁷as a bride adorned for her husband.

3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, ⁸the dwelling place^a of God is with man. He will ⁹dwell with them, and they will be his people,^b and God himself will be with them as their God.^c

4 ¹⁰He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and ¹¹death shall be no more, ¹²neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away."

5 And ¹³he who was seated on the throne said, "Behold, I ¹⁴am making all things new." Also he said, "Write this down, for ¹⁵these words are trustworthy and true."

6 And he said to me, ¹⁶"It is done! ¹⁷I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. ¹⁸To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment.

7 ¹⁹The one who conquers will have this heritage, and ²⁰I will be his God and ²¹he will be my son.

8 ²²But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, ²³their portion will be in ²⁴the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is ²⁵the second death."
