But the people said to Saul, "Shall Jonathan die, who has accomplished this great deliverance in Israel? Certainly not! As the Lord lives, not one hair of his head shall fall to the ground, for he has worked with God this day." So the people rescued Jonathan, and he did not die.

Mas o povo disse a Saul: Morrerá, porventura, Jônatas, que operou esta grande salvação em Israel? Tal não suceda! como vive o Senhor, não lhe há de cair no chão um só cabelo da sua cabeça! pois com Deus fez isso hoje. Assim o povo livrou Jônatas, para que não morresse.

Then the people said to Saul, "Shall Jonathan die, who has worked this great salvation in Israel? Far from it! 1As the LORD lives, 2there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground, for he has worked with God this day." So the people ransomed Jonathan, so that he did not die.

Os soldados, porém, disseram a Saul: “Será que Jônatas, que trouxe esta grande libertação para Israel, deve morrer? Nunca! Juramos pelo nome do SENHOR: Nem um só cabelo de sua cabeça cairá ao chão, pois o que ele fez hoje foi com o auxílio de Deus”. Então os homens resgataram Jônatas, e ele não foi morto.
