Mary's Song of Praise: The Magnificat

46 And Mary said, ¹"My ²soul ³magnifies the Lord,

47 ⁴and my ⁵spirit rejoices in ⁶God my Savior,

48 for ⁷he has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations ⁸will call me blessed;

49 for ⁹he who is mighty ¹⁰has done great things for me, and ¹¹holy is his name.

50 And ¹²his mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation.

51 ¹³He has shown strength with his arm; ¹⁴he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts;

52 ¹⁵he has brought down the mighty from their thrones ¹⁶and exalted those of humble estate;

53 he has filled ¹⁷the hungry with good things, and the rich ¹⁸he has sent away empty.

54 He has ¹⁹helped ²⁰his servant Israel, ²¹in remembrance of his mercy,

55 ²²as he spoke to our fathers, ²³to Abraham and to his offspring forever."

56 And Mary remained with her about three months and returned to her home.
