The Resurrection

1 2When the Sabbath was past, 3Mary Magdalene, 4Mary the mother of James, and 5Salome 6bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him.
And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb.
And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll away 7the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb? ”
And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back— 8it was very large.
And 9entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, 10dressed in 11a white robe, and 12they were alarmed.
And he said to them, 13“Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him.
But go, tell his disciples and Peter that 14he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him, 15just as he told you. ”
And they went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them, and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid. [Some of the earliest manuscripts do not include 16:9–20. ] a

Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene

[[Now when he rose early on the first day of the week, 16he appeared first to 17Mary Magdalene, 18from whom he had cast out seven demons.
19She went and told those who had been with him, 20as they 21mourned and wept.
But when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they 22would not believe it.

Jesus Appears to Two Disciples

23After these things 24he appeared in 25another form to two of them, as they were walking into the country.
26And they went back and told the rest, but they did not believe them.

The Great Commission

Afterward 27he appeared 28to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at table, and he rebuked them for their 29unbelief and 30hardness of heart, because 31they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen.
And he said to them, 32“Go into all the world and 33proclaim the gospel to 34the whole creation.
35Whoever believes and is 36baptized 37will be saved, but 38whoever 39does not believe will be condemned.
And 40these signs will accompany those who believe: 41in my name they will cast out demons; 42they will speak in new tongues;
43they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; 44they will lay their hands 45on the sick, and they will recover. ”
So then the Lord Jesus, 46after he had spoken to them, 47was taken up into heaven and 48sat down at the right hand of God.
And they went out and preached everywhere, while 49the Lord worked with them and confirmed 50the message 51by accompanying signs. ]]
